The BJP is unable to accept the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Combined Sanatan Jagaran Alliance and leader of ISKCON. According to an Indian media report by *The Wall* on Monday (November 25), the BJP from West Bengal has demanded Chinmoy's release. Opposition leader of West Bengal, Shuvendu Adhikari, even threatened that if he is not released, the Sanatanis at the Bangladesh border would block the area, and they would also stage protests in front of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata.
On Monday afternoon at around 4:30 PM, Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Mancha and head of Pundarik Dham in Chittagong, was detained by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) from the airport area in the capital. He was later arrested.
That night, BJP leader Shuvendu Adhikari expressed concerns over the arrest of ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das and claimed that the interim government in Bangladesh is persecuting Hindus. He further alleged that the Bangladeshi government had arrested Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu, the leader fighting for the survival of Hindus in Bangladesh.
Shuvendu stated that if Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu is not released by Monday night, Sanatanis will block the border starting tomorrow. He also vowed to prevent any services from India to Bangladesh via West Bengal.
Moreover, Shuvendu threatened to stage a continuous sit-in protest in front of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata. He remarked, “We are deeply concerned and saddened by the oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh. We will no longer tolerate this."
It is noteworthy that on October 25, the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Mancha held a rally in Chittagong, with Chinmoy Krishna Das serving as the spokesperson. Shortly after the rally, allegations of disrespecting the national flag of Bangladesh were made against Chinmoy Krishna Das.
On October 30, a case was filed against Chinmoy Das and 19 others for insulting the national flag of Bangladesh. The case was filed by a person named Firoz Khan at the Kotwali police station under charges of treason. Two individuals, Rajesh Chowdhury and Hriday Das, have already been arrested in connection with the incident.
The other accused individuals in the case include: Chandan Kumar Dhar, also known as Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari (Divisional Organizing Secretary of ISKCON Chittagong and head of Pundarik Dham temple), Ajay Dutt (Coordinator of the Hindu Jagaran Mancha in Chittagong), Leela Raj Das Brahmachari (Head of ISKCON's Provatak Temple in Chittagong), Gopal Das Tipu, Dr. Kathak Das, Engineer Amit Dhar, Roni Das, Rajib Das, Krishna Kumar Dutt, Ziku Chowdhury, Newton De Bobby, Tushar Chakraborty Rajib, Mithun De, Rupen Dhar, Rimon Dutt, Sukanto Das, Bishwajit Gupta, Rajesh Chowdhury, and Hriday Das.
