Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar has urged people to ensure that Valentine's Day does not turn into a mockery. Her Facebook post on the matter has sparked discussions on social media.
In the post published on Tuesday, Farida Akhtar wrote, "Out of respect for the martyrs and injured of July-August, Valentine's Day should not become a mockery this year." Her post quickly went viral, drawing numerous reactions. As comments started pouring in, she eventually disabled the comment section.
However, she clarified that this was merely a personal appeal and not an official directive. Speaking to a national media outlet, Farida Akhtar stated,"This was my personal request. A martyr’s family had asked me to make this appeal, and I deeply resonated with it."
