The 1993 hit film Baazigar, starring Shah Rukh Khan, may soon have a sequel. Producer Ratan Jain confirmed that Baazigar 2 is under discussion, though the project hinges on Khan agreeing to reprise his iconic role. Released on November 12, 1993, Baazigar was a major success, with Khan’s portrayal of an anti-hero becoming a standout part of Bollywood history.
In an interview with ETimes, Jain revealed that talks with Khan about the sequel are ongoing. While nothing is confirmed, he emphasized that the project will move forward only if the script is compelling and can capture the essence of the original film. Jain hinted at an exciting new concept but remains committed to maintaining the high quality that made Baazigar a classic.
Directed by Abbas-Mustan, the original film set trends with its gripping plot and memorable performances, especially from Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The film also featured Shilpa Shetty, Siddharth Ray, Rakhee, Dalip Tahil, and Johny Lever, adding depth to the suspenseful story.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up to start shooting for King, his new film set to release in January 2025. This movie will mark his first collaboration with his daughter, Suhana Khan, who is also an aspiring actor. King will also feature Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma in key roles.
Baazigar 2 promises to bring back memories of the original while introducing Khan’s legendary anti-hero character to a new generation of fans. Audiences are eagerly awaiting more details on both films.
