A refrigerator explosion in the Sheikhghat area of Sylhet on Wednesday night injured five people, including a pedestrian. The blast occurred around 9 p.m. at the "Shaad & Co" shop, causing significant damage and leaving the victims injured.

Among the injured, Emon, an 18-year-old employee of the shop, was admitted to the Burn Unit at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Mohammad Fakhruddin, a relative of the shop’s owner, confirmed that none of the injuries were severe, and all the victims were receiving medical treatment.

Moniruzzaman, the deputy director of Sylhet Fire Service, confirmed that they had received reports of the incident. However, since the situation was under control, the fire service did not need to intervene.

According to Officer-in-Charge Md Ziaul Haque from Kotwali Model police station, locals managed to extinguish the fire before the fire service arrived. Authorities believe the explosion was caused by a malfunction in the refrigerator’s compressors
