BNP's acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, has called on everyone to forget political infighting and work towards creating a new chapter in history by building national unity.
He said, "The new chapter should be one where no one's life and family are destroyed because of political differences."
In separate posts on his verified X handle and verified Facebook page on Sunday, Tarique Rahman emphasized the same message, stating, "Let's forget political infighting and unite, where no one's life and family are destroyed because of political differences."
He further said, "The beauty of truth is that victory over falsehood is inevitable, and people should be assured that justice and truth will eventually prevail."
Tarique Rahman expressed his commitment to upholding the spirit of democracy, which is based on belief, trust, diversity, ideals, and empowering the people of Bangladesh, allowing them to determine their own fate through participation in elections.
He added, "In this journey, we hope for the rule of law, human rights, freedom of expression, protection of every citizen's rights and freedoms, and the establishment of an inclusive, tolerant, and law-based society."
Tarique Rahman expressed these sentiments on social media a few hours after the High Court Division acquitted him and all the accused in his case in a ruling.
Tarique Rahman and the other accused had been convicted in two cases under the murder and explosives laws in a lower court. The verdict had been related to the grenade attack on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on August 21, 2004.
