Noakhali's Hatia upazila saw a tragic incident where a husband killed his wife by stabbing her. Following the incident, the victim's relatives caught the killer husband, Nahid, and handed him over to the police.

The deceased woman was identified as Rina Akter (22), daughter of Constable Nadu Mia from the West Maijchhara village of Sonadia Union in the upazila.

The incident took place on the night of Monday, December 16, at the Constable's house in West Maijchhara village, Sonadia Union.

The arrested man, Mohammad Nahid Hossain (26), is from Rajapur village in Khulna district and is the son of the late Khalil Mia. Nahid works as a furniture craftsman. According to local sources, Nahid and Rina got married four years ago, and they have a son. About 10 to 15 days ago, Nahid came to his father-in-law's house with his wife and son.

On the night of the incident, Nahid returned home intoxicated after taking an excessive amount of sleeping pills. This led to a quarrel and physical altercation between him and his wife, Rina. In a fit of rage, Nahid stabbed his wife in the chest. The excessive bleeding led to Rina's death at the scene.

Abdul Mannan Rana, the General Secretary of Sonadia Union BNP, stated that after killing his wife, Nahid was found lying on a cot. Local people, upon receiving news of the incident, rushed to the scene. It is believed that the murder occurred due to a domestic dispute.
