It was towards the end of the Liverpool-Man City match. The Anfield crowd was chanting, "You're getting sacked in the morning," aimed at Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola. Understandably, he wasn’t pleased with this. However, he responded to the home crowd in his own way. He pulled his hand from his pocket and showed six fingers, reminding them that his team had won six league titles in the last seven seasons.
Under the Spanish coach, City has claimed six trophies in seven seasons, with two of those titles coming in the 2018/19 and 2021/22 seasons, where they narrowly edged Liverpool by just one point. Guardiola seemed to want to remind Liverpool's fans, "Remember what we've done." On Sunday, City suffered a 2-0 loss at Liverpool’s home ground, marking their sixth defeat in the last seven matches. As a result, their gap with league leaders Liverpool has now grown to 11 points.
When asked about the "You're getting sacked in the morning" chant after the match, Guardiola told Sky Sports, "I didn't expect this at Anfield, I didn’t expect it from Liverpool fans, but it’s okay, it’s part of the game, and I understand it. There’s incredible rivalry between our two teams. I have a lot of respect for them."
