In the ongoing 11th season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Shakib Khan's owned team, Dhaka Capitals, participated for the first time. Although Dhaka was the most talked-about team this season, they did not achieve success in terms of on-field performance. However, the team's owner, Shakib Khan, assured that in the future, Dhaka Capitals will come back stronger, more aggressive, and fully prepared for victory.
On Saturday (February 1), Dhaka Capitals faced Khulna Tigers in the last match of the league phase. Shakib Khan was present at the ground throughout the match. Even though the team was defeated, it was Shakib Khan who handed the award to the winning team's players.
Dhaka Capitals secured 6 points with 3 wins in the 12 league matches of BPL and finished in 6th place in their first-ever BPL campaign. After the match, Shakib Khan shared his experience of participating in BPL and his thoughts on the future of the league in a long post. He wrote, “This time, we got the opportunity to participate in BPL with the Dhaka Capitals team. It was a new experience for us, as well as a new challenge. We tried our best in this first cricket tournament, and as it was our beginning, we faced many new experiences in every aspect.”
Promising that the team will come back stronger and more prepared for victory in the future, he added, “Those who like me may already know – I never lose in your selfless love; I either win or learn! Maybe in the future, we’ll see a stronger, more aggressive, and more prepared Dhaka Capitals for victory – that’s our promise.”
