In Jhalkathi, a drug dealer named Tuhin Hawladar (38) swallowed polythene-wrapped yaba tablets after hearing about the joint anti-narcotics operation, so that no evidence would be found on him. During the raid, another female drug dealer named Rozi Akhter (26) was also arrested. At the end of the operation, a total of 37 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from them.
The operation was carried out in Palbari area of Jhalkathi city around 5 pm on Sunday (October 20).
Later, a mobile court was set up under the leadership of Jhalkathi Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Saiful Islam. The court sentenced Tuhin Howladar to one year in prison and Rosi Akhtar to seven days in prison. A fine of Tk 200 was imposed on those who were sentenced to 1 year imprisonment and Tk 100 on those who were sentenced to 7 days imprisonment.
