Students of Government Titumir College are staging protests, demanding its upgrade to a "full-fledged university." Residents of Dhaka's upscale areas, Gulshan and Banani, are at the center of their slogans, with the students chanting: "What does Gulshan want? Titumir University! What does Banani want? Titumir University!" The same slogans are also being chanted in English: "Demand to Gulshan, Titumir University!" and "Demand to Banani, Titumir University!"
On Tuesday (November 19), the protest began at 11 AM in front of the college's main gate, with students voicing their demands through a series of slogans that have electrified the campus. Other prominent slogans include: "No room for discrimination in Titumir’s land," "TC or TU? TU! TU!" "Principal or VC? VC! VC!" "Our campus, our rules," and "Why is there police on campus? We demand answers!"
At around 11:45 AM, student leader Matiur Rahman Joy, one of the key coordinators of the protest, addressed the gathering. He stated that senior government officials, including the education advisor, are expected to discuss their demands later in the day. A student delegation is set to participate in the meeting. However, Joy warned that if their demands are not met with concrete assurances, the students would escalate their movement by blocking roads and railways starting at 11 AM on Wednesday.
