In a tragic incident in Panchhari, Khagrachari, three individuals have been killed by armed assailants. The shooting took place at 10 AM on Wednesday in the Shanti Ranjanpara area of Latiaban Union. According to a statement from the United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF), the deceased were members of their organization, as claimed by spokesperson Niron Chakma.

The statement alleges that a group of armed terrorists invaded the area and launched an attack on UPDF members, resulting in the deaths of Sijon Chakma, Shasan Tripura, and Joyen Chakma at the scene. While the victims were identified as UPDF workers, further details about them remain unknown.

Bhuumi Dhar Tripura, the Chairman of Latiaban Union Parishad, confirmed the incident, stating that gunfire was heard in the morning. He later learned that three individuals from the area had been killed, but noted that no one had come to recover the bodies yet.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Panchhari Police Station, Mo. Jasim Uddin, reported that they had heard about the gunfire but would take time to reach the location due to its remoteness. UPDF district organizer Ongya Marma has attributed the attack to the New Masked Forces. In response to the killings of their three members, UPDF has called for a dawn-to-dusk road blockade in Khagrachari district tomorrow (Thursday).
