The Secretary General of Islami Chhatra Shibir, Zahidul Islam, has claimed that their organization has no connection with the group that performed Islamic songs during the Durga Puja’s Mahasaptami event at JM Sen Hall in Chittagong. Zahidul Islam made this claim through a Facebook post on his personal account late Thursday night.
In his post, Zahidul Islam wrote, "I am taking responsibility in stating that Chhatra Shibir has no involvement in this. Shibir never supports any actions that hurt religious sentiments. Therefore, we strongly condemn this incident."
Demanding an investigation into the incident, Zahidul further wrote, "Let the truth come out before everyone through an impartial investigation committee. If anyone is found guilty, they must be brought to justice. Those who continue to falsely accuse Shibir without verifying facts will one day have to answer to their own conscience."
Yesterday evening, a cultural program was held at the Puja venue, where an organization named "Chattogram Cultural Academy" performed two songs.
