In the case of the attempted murder of youth leader Hriday Mia during the anti-discrimination student movement in Mirpur, Dhaka, police have requested a 10-day remand for former Member of Parliament Barrister Syed Sayedul Haq Suman. On Tuesday (October 22), the investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Abdul Halim of Mirpur Model Police Station, submitted this request. A hearing regarding this matter will take place in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

The complaint states that on July 19, Hriday went to participate in a rally in Mirpur-10 after performing the Jummah prayer. There, activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations attacked, threw cocktail bombs, and opened fire, resulting in Hriday being shot.

Following this incident, Hriday filed a case at Mirpur Model Police Station on September 23, in which Barrister Suman is named as the third accused in the FIR.
