BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is currently undergoing treatment in London, and various medical tests are ongoing. These tests are expected to be completed by Friday, and during this time, doctors are expected to prepare a plan for her next course of treatment. On Monday evening, Dr. A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain, Khaleda Zia's personal doctor and a member of the BNP Standing Committee, shared this information with journalists during a briefing in front of The London Clinic in Central London.
He mentioned that it may take until Friday to obtain all of Khaleda Zia's medical reports, and within that time frame, a plan for her further treatment will be prepared.
Dr. Zahid further stated that the doctors are currently making necessary changes to her treatment and are in discussions regarding what further treatment will be needed. He also mentioned, "Just as the people of the country are concerned about Begum Khaleda Zia’s treatment, the doctors here are taking great care in treating her."
Providing details about Begum Khaleda Zia's ongoing treatment, Dr. Zahid said that a team of specialists in nephrology, hepatology, and liver transplant are conducting regular health checks on her. Based on the test results, changes are being made to her treatment as needed.
He also mentioned, "Some of the treatments that were given to her in Bangladesh have been modified since her arrival in London. Her liver disease and heart problems have not yet been fully diagnosed."
Regarding Khaleda Zia's latest medical condition, Dr. Zahid said, "Begum Khaleda Zia has never wanted to share her physical health issues with the public. She has endured much hardship, but she has always spoken for the people, not for herself."
He also noted that Begum Khaleda Zia, upon learning that journalists were standing outside in the severe cold, despite her reluctance, expressed her gratitude towards them and requested prayers from the people of the country.
