The High Court has directed the formation of a high-powered task force comprising experienced individuals from various agencies to complete the investigation into the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi within six months. This full order was issued on Wednesday (October 16) by the High Court bench, led by Justice Farah Mahbub.
Earlier, on Tuesday (October 15), the submission of the investigation report in the case was delayed for the 112th time. A new date was set for November 18 by Dhaka's Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque’s court for the report submission.
Despite the deadline, the case's investigation officer, Additional Superintendent of Police Khandaker Md. Shafiqul Alam, was unable to submit the report. On October 1, the court had allowed nine lawyers, including Supreme Court advocate Shishir Monir, to assist the state in this case.
Earlier, on September 29, for the first time in the Sagar-Runi murder case, advocate Shishir Monir was appointed as the lawyer by the plaintiff and Runi's brother, Nausher Ali Roman.
