The dismissed trainee Sub-Inspectors (SIs) from the 40th batch of the police force are continuing their hunger strike in front of the Secretariat, demanding reinstatement. Around 10 AM today, about 25 of the dismissed SIs were seen sitting on mats, with some holding placards. Among them were women as well.
The hunger strike began on Monday (January 13) in the afternoon, when the dismissed SIs gathered in front of the Secretariat. A three-member delegation from their group entered the Secretariat to meet with officials from the Home Ministry and discuss their demands. However, the officials did not offer any assurances to fulfill their demands. Consequently, they began their hunger strike in the afternoon. They are sitting on the road opposite the Secretariat's gates 1 and 2, near the Osmani Memorial Hall.
