The Thai government has decided to introduce e-visa services for Bangladeshi general passport holders, expected to be implemented early next year. The announcement came during a meeting between Ambassador Hworayuth Pongprapapant, Director-General of the Consular Department of the Thai Foreign Ministry, and the Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand on Thursday (October 24).
The Director-General advised Bangladeshis seeking medical treatment to obtain the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) from Dhaka, which will be valid for five years with a six-month stay per visit. He also warned against the submission of fraudulent documents during visa applications, stating that Thai authorities would blacklist applicants if such practices continue.
Additionally, visa exemption for government passport holders between the two countries will take effect on December 19, following an agreement signed in Bangkok last April. Diplomatic passport holders have been enjoying visa exemption since 2018.
