Tabith Awal has won the Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFFE) election with a huge margin. He was elected president by getting 123 votes. His only rival Mizanur Rahman got 5 votes. Chief Election Commissioner Mezbahuddin officially announced the results.
Polling was held on Saturday (October 26) at the Intercontinental Hotel in the capital from 2 pm to 6 pm. Out of 133 councillors, 128 exercised their right to vote. Tabith is Bafuf's third elected president, having been previously held by SA Sultan and Kazi Salahuddin. Salahuddin served as president for four consecutive terms.
In this election, voting has been done for the posts of president, vice-president and members. 45 candidates contested against 20 posts. There were 6 candidates against 4 seats for the post of Vice-President, and 37 candidates participated for 15 executive members. Imrul Hasan was elected unopposed as Senior Vice President.
