Students of Government Titumir College in Mohakhali, Dhaka, are continuing their movement to demand the conversion of their college into a university. On Tuesday, they staged a sit-in for the second consecutive day in front of the college gate starting at 11:30 AM. In response to the protest, a visible presence of police was observed on one side of the road outside the campus.

As part of their movement, the students blocked roads and railways on Monday. The blockade lasted for over four hours during its first phase, effectively halting road and rail communications. After a brief respite, they resumed their protest in the evening, causing further disruptions. Although the blockade ended at 9:30 PM, the protesters announced that they would enforce a "college shutdown" from the next day if their demands were not met.

On Tuesday morning, the students resumed their demonstration, chanting slogans like "TU TU" and "Principal or VC." One student stated that they have boycotted classes and exams to participate in the movement.

The police are closely monitoring the situation. Deputy Police Commissioner (Operations) A.F.M. Tariq Hossain Khan stated that the police remain alert and have urged the students to conduct their protests peacefully within the campus. The law enforcement agency is working to maintain public order.

The protests have not only affected road traffic but also disrupted railway services. During Monday’s blockade at Mohakhali railway crossing, a train ignored the student obstruction and sped through. This angered the protesters, leading them to hurl stones at the train, breaking its windows and injuring several passengers.
