Popular Islamic speaker Sheikh Ahmadullah has called for considering several aspects when amending the constitution. In a post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday (November 13), he expressed his views. In the post, Sheikh Ahmadullah wrote that the constitution should reflect the beliefs and values of the majority of the country's population, and should respect our faith, values, and culture. He stated that no provision contrary to the religious beliefs, values, and consciousness of the majority should be added to the constitution, and if present, they must be removed.
He further mentioned that the phrase "Trust in Allah and belief in Him should be the foundation of all the work of the Republic" must be reinserted at the beginning of the constitution, as it was removed by the previous government. He argued that secularism and socialism should be abolished from the constitution, as they contradict the traditional values of the people of this country. Additionally, he stressed the need to provide religious education at all levels of schooling, making it a constitutional requirement.
