Former minister Shajahan Khan has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after falling ill while in remand. He was taken to the hospital in the afternoon after feeling unwell while in the custody of the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) on Monday.
Medical sources indicate that Shajahan Khan arrived at the hospital complaining of chest pain. His health was examined under the supervision of the DB police. He was initially treated in the emergency department. An ECG was performed, and he was found to have high blood pressure. Additionally, he has diabetes and heart problems. Following the preliminary examinations in the emergency department, he was transferred to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
Since the uprising of students and the public, former ministers and members of parliament are being arrested in the process of the fall of the Awami League government. Among them, former shipping minister Shajahan Khan was arrested from the Dhaka neighborhood of Dhanmondi on September 5. He has been named in a case regarding the shooting death of teenager Abdul Motalib during the student movement on August 4.
