Indian media outlets like Zee News have reported that "Hindu temples in Bangladesh have been attacked and idols vandalized," sharing a video to support this claim. The same footage was also posted on RT India’s X account. However, the video is neither from Bangladesh nor does it depict any idol vandalism.
Upon searching social media, it was found that, aside from the two media outlets, the video was shared from several other X and Facebook accounts as well. The claim made was that "Islamists in Bangladesh are attacking Hindu temples and vandalizing idols." However, fact-checking organization Rumor Scanner has confirmed that the widely circulated video is actually from a Kali idol immersion ceremony at a Kali temple in Burdwan district, West Bengal, India.
The event, titled "12-Year-Old Kali Mata Niranjan 2024," was organized on November 25 by the Kiranmoyee Library and the villagers of Sultanpur in Khanda Ghosh, East Burdwan.
