In the Padmapukur Balakapara area of Patnitola, Naogaon, the lifeless body of a young entrepreneur was discovered hanging from a tree. On Sunday night, around 11 PM, locals found 24-year-old Suman Hossain, the owner of Suman Photostat at Najipur’s bus stand mosque market, hanging by the neck. He was the son of the late Moyen Uddin, a resident of Billchara Chakpara village in Mahadebpur. The news spread quickly after a Facebook live video of Suman went viral, sparking shock and concern in the community.

The 5-minute, 22-second live video revealed Suman's recent financial struggles. He explained that he had borrowed 70,000 taka from Bulbul Hossain, the owner of Bulbul Telecom at the Najipur bus stand, with interest. As collateral, Bulbul took signed blank stamps and cheque leaves. Despite repaying 140,000 taka, which included the principal and interest, Bulbul continued to demand an additional 850,000 taka, threatening Suman with harm if he didn’t comply. In his Facebook live, Suman asked for more time to repay the debt, which was due by the following Monday.

Suman also shared that he had taken 1 million taka from Mahadebpur to settle the debt with Bulbul. However, on his way back to Billchara Chakpara village, he was ambushed by criminals at Nadour Mor who attempted to steal the money. Fearing for his life, Suman broadcasted live on Facebook, pleading for help and warning that the robbers intended to kill him after taking the money. He further revealed that only Bulbul knew about the large sum of money he was carrying.

After viewing Suman's live video, villagers from nearby Billchara Chakpara rushed to Nadour Mor in search of him. They later found his body hanging from a tree branch in Padmapukur Balakapara. He was brought to the Patnitola Upazila Health Complex, where he was declared dead by the attending physician.

Bulbul, the businessman, has gone into hiding, and efforts to contact him have been unsuccessful.

Patnitola's police officer-in-charge, Shah Md. Enayetur Rahman, stated that Suman’s body showed no signs of external injury other than the hanging. After an autopsy at Naogaon General Hospital, his body was returned to his family.
