Fire Burns 26 Rooms of 3 Eco Resorts in St. Martin, Tourists Spend a Sleepless Night
Twenty-six rooms of three eco resorts in St. Martin, located in Cox's Bazar’s Teknaf, were burned in a fire, but no tourists were harmed. The exact extent of the damage is yet to be determined.
The fire broke out at 2:10 AM on Tuesday night at the Beach Valley, King Shuk, and Sayree Eco Resorts in the Galachipa area of St. Martin. This information was confirmed to *Prothom Alo* by the Chairman of St. Martin Union Parishad, Mujibur Rahman.
According to eyewitnesses and resort owners, the fire started from the reception of Sayree Eco Resort, located on the western beach of St. Martin. It is believed that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. The fire spread quickly, burning the reception area of Sayree Resort, 18 rooms of Beach Valley, and 7 rooms of King Shuk Eco Resort. Due to strong winds, the fire spread rapidly.
By 4 AM on Wednesday, the fire was brought under control with the efforts of local residents, tourists, and law enforcement agencies.
A couple from Dhaka, who were visiting Beach Valley Eco Resort, said that most tourists were outside the resorts when the fire broke out, so there were no casualties. However, the belongings of most tourists were burned, and they had to spend a sleepless night.
