A female leader of the banned student organization, Bangladesh Chhatra League, was harassed in front of law enforcement officials while she was present to take an exam.

Some leaders were hitting her, while others were pulling her hair and covering her mouth. In this situation, the leader shouted slogans such as “Mujib, in your memory, I fear not death” and “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu.” This afternoon, police and military personnel arrested her from the examination center at Rajshahi Government Women's College. During this time, two female leaders of the women’s wing of the opposition party physically assaulted her in front of law enforcement officials.

The student, known as Janatul Ferdous, also called Piya, had come to take her exam at Rajshahi Women’s College. She is a second-year student in the degree pass course at Rajshahi College and serves as the environment secretary for Rajshahi Metropolitan Chhatra League. On September 7, Ruhul Amin, a first-year student of Islamic History at Rajshahi College, filed a case against her under the Explosive Substances Act.

Mohammad Mehedi Masud, the officer-in-charge of Boalia Police Station, informed Prothom Alo that Janatul Ferdous is the 58th accused in that case. She came to the Rajshahi Government Women’s College to take her exam today. Upon learning this, BNP leaders and activists notified the police, who then went to the examination center. After the exam, she was arrested as a suspect in the case and was presented in court later that afternoon.

Several videos of Janatul Ferdous's arrest have circulated on social media. The footage shows two leaders of the women’s wing of the Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP standing beside the hall's collapsible gate until the exam ended. Outside, BNP leaders and activists chanted slogans like "Chhatra League has no place in this land." The police were positioned behind them. At one point, the two female leaders entered the examination hall while other candidates were still seated. During this time, one leader slapped Janatul Ferdous. When Janatul asked, “What is my crime?” she eventually fell to the floor of the examination hall. A little later, when the police were escorting her out to a vehicle, she shouted slogans like “Mujib, in your memory, I fear not death” and “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu.” At that moment, Nazrin Akhtar, the sports secretary of the women’s wing, covered her mouth, accompanied by another female leader named Shiuli. The video also shows Tanvir Ahmed, the joint secretary of the metropolitan student wing, at the scene.

Many students were present when Janatul was handed over to the police. As the police vehicle left the college, many began to throw bricks and stones.

After the student leader was taken away by the police, Nazrin Akhtar stated, “This Piya is a child trafficker and drug dealer. Her syndicate knows no bounds. All the bad girls are her friends. She is the leader of the teenage gang and has fired shots herself.” Another member of the women’s wing, Shiuli, said, “We participated in the march on the 4th. She has fired shots. This Piya is a drug dealer. With her support, she has oppressed everyone from the women’s wing to the student wing. She did not allow us to take our exams and did not let us sleep at night. We want her to face the harshest punishment.”

Zubaida Ayesha Siddika, the principal of Rajshahi Government Women’s College, explained that exams were ongoing during the afternoon session. While the second-year graduation exams were being conducted, BNP leaders and activists came to inform her that a Chhatra League leader was taking an exam at the center and that she was an accused in the case. The principal asked them to wait until the exam was finished. She mentioned that she wanted to call the police, but the BNP leaders said they had already informed the police and that they were on their way. After the exam concluded, the leader was handed over to the police.
