At least 10 people were injured in a clash due to a delay in serving chicken roast at a wedding reception in Madaripur. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Morolkandi village of Ward No. 4 in Shibchar Municipality.

Among the injured, a man named Hemayet Dhali was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition.

Locals reported that on Friday afternoon, Fatematuz Johra, daughter of Ripon Dewan from the CD Road area of Ward No. 3 in Shibchar Municipality, was married to Khalil Bepari from Morolkandi village in Ward No. 4 of the same municipality. The wedding reception (Bou Bhat) was organized at the groom's house today.

One of the invited guests, Suruj Mia from the nearby Nilkhi village, was served lunch during the event. However, when there was a delay in serving chicken roast, Suruj became angry. A verbal altercation ensued between Suruj and the groom's family members. At one point, Suruj and his companions attacked the groom Khalil Bepari’s relatives. A clash broke out between both sides, with people using local weapons. At least 10 people, including Hemayet Dhali, Bellal Molla, and Ibrahim Hawlader, were injured in the clash. The injured were rescued and admitted to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex. Due to Hemayet Dhali’s critical condition, he was sent to DMCH for better treatment.

Panic spread among the guests attending the wedding reception after the incident. Police were later deployed to the area.

Shibchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Moktar Hossain said, "The clash occurred over a delay in serving chicken roast at the wedding reception. Additional police have been deployed in the area. Legal action will be taken upon receiving a written complaint."
