The government has issued a revised notification making Lutfey Siddiqi’s role as the Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy for International Affairs an unpaid position. The Cabinet Division issued the updated order on Sunday, which was made public on Tuesday. The notification restructured his appointment terms, specifying that Siddiqi would only be eligible for an official vehicle and actual travel and accommodation costs for official duties, without any salary.
Previously, Siddiqi’s appointment on September 4 had designated him with adviser-level benefits. The new notification, however, does not include any mention of his rank. Siddiqi is currently a visiting professor at the London School of Economics and an adjunct professor at the National University of Singapore. He has extensive experience in global finance, having held senior roles at UBS, Barclays Capital, and Deutsche Bank.
The interim government, led by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus since August 8 following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s administration, now comprises 21 members, including the Chief Adviser.
