Bangladesh managed to score only 103 runs, losing 8 wickets after facing all their overs. The West Indies chased down the target in just 12.5 overs. With this loss, the team, led by Nigar Sultana Jyoti, has effectively been knocked out of the Women’s T20 World Cup. Even if they win their next match by a large margin, their chances of reaching the semifinals remain very slim.
Earlier, Bangladesh struggled to reach 103 runs. The opening partnership of Dilara Akter and Sathi Rani started cautiously but was broken in the fourth over when Sathi was out for 9 runs. Dilara scored 19 runs off 18 balls before being bowled by Karishma Ramharack. Sobhana Mostari and Nigar Sultana Jyoti managed to build a partnership of 40 runs, but Mostari was dismissed for 16 runs, failing to maintain the scoring pace.
Taj Nehar, making her debut in the national team during the World Cup, continued her streak of failures with just 1 run. Swarna Akter recorded a golden duck. Nigar Sultana fought hard for a significant period but couldn’t contribute to a bigger score, scoring 39 runs off 44 balls. On the other end, wickets kept falling, with Ritu Monir being the only other player to reach double figures, scoring 10 runs, while no one else could manage even 3 runs.
