The Ministry of Public Administration has approved the recruitment of 9,500 assistant headteachers in the country’s primary schools. The recruitment process will begin once it receives approval from the Ministry of Finance, the Secretary Committee, and the Office of the Chief Advisor.

This information was disclosed in a letter from the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday (October 22).

The letter regarding the creation of the position of assistant headteacher in government primary schools under the Directorate of Primary Education stated that the Ministry of Public Administration has agreed to create 9,572 positions for assistant headteachers in government primary schools under the Directorate of Primary Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.

In the letter signed by Nasima Yasmin, the research officer (additional responsibility) of the Ministry of Public Administration, it was mentioned as a condition for this recruitment that all formalities must be completed with the approval of the Expenditure Management and Implementation Division of the Ministry of Finance. Recommendations from the Secretary Committee regarding administrative development must also be accepted. If applicable, approval from the Chief Advisor is required.

After the issuance of the order for the creation of posts, the relevant ministry’s advisor will provide approval. The orders of the Cabinet Division in this regard must be followed. Since the created posts are eligible for promotion, the posts must be processed for promotion by including them in the government primary school teacher recruitment regulations. A copy of the Government Order regarding the creation of posts must be sent to the Organization and Management Division of the Ministry of Public Administration. The letter also stated that all conditions imposed by the Ministry of Public Administration must be explicitly mentioned in the official approval document for the creation of posts.

It is known that the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education had recommended the creation of 65,566 positions. Accordingly, one assistant headteacher position would be created for each school. However, this position has initially been approved only for those schools that have more than 250 students.
