The angry public has thrown mud at the King, Queen, and Prime Minister of Spain.
This incident occurred on Sunday during a visit to the flood-affected area in the town of Píport in the eastern province of Valencia.
Reports indicate that over two hundred people have died in the region due to the recent floods. During the visit on Sunday, the King, Queen, and Prime Minister faced intense backlash from the public when mud was thrown at them.
According to media reports, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez visited the flood-affected area in Píport on Sunday. He was accompanied by the regional chief of Valencia, Carlos Mazón.
During the visit, the Prime Minister and the regional chief confronted the angry crowd, and the mud thrown at them hit their bodies. Security personnel quickly removed them from the scene.
King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia also faced the same situation.
Reports indicate that the mud thrown by the crowd hit the faces and clothes of the King and Queen. They were safely evacuated immediately after the incident.
The reports further state that the people of Valencia are becoming increasingly frustrated due to the slow pace of rescue efforts. They turned to protest during the visit of the state and government leaders. Many shouted "murderers" at the King, Queen, and Prime Minister.
Later, Spain's national television reported that the visit of the state and government leaders to Valencia has been postponed.
It is worth noting that heavy rains fell in Spain last Tuesday. As a result, flash floods occurred in the eastern province of Valencia and surrounding areas. Various bridges, roads, and buildings were swept away. Many people were seen climbing onto the roofs of their homes or clinging to trees to escape the rising waters.
