On August 5th last year, after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, an unstable situation arose in the country. While the situation has returned to normal, unpleasant incidents are still being reported in certain areas. Recently, several incidents involving celebrities from the showbiz industry have emerged, causing concern among everyone in the entertainment sector. In particular, actresses are facing obstacles while attending the inauguration of showrooms or restaurants. This includes actresses like Mehazabin Chowdhury, Pori Moni, and Apu Biswas.

The Bangladesh Actors' Guild, the organization representing the actors, has expressed concern over these developments. Initially, Mehazabin Chowdhury faced problems in Chittagong, followed by Pori Moni in Tangail, and later Apu Biswas had to cancel an event in the capital due to backlash.

The Actors' Guild Bangladesh issued a statement expressing their concern, stating, "Recent events have caused us distress and concern, posing a threat to the freedom of artists and their profession." The statement highlighted that female actors have been obstructed from attending events organized by various institutions. Over the past three months, Apu Biswas, Mehazabin Chowdhury, and Pori Moni have all faced similar obstacles in Kamrangirchar, Chittagong, and Tangail.

These incidents have sparked widespread criticism on social media. In addition, the organization has raised concerns about hindrances to shooting and foreign travel for artists. The Actors' Guild Bangladesh emphasized that if any actor is involved in criminal activities, they should be judged based on clear evidence and in accordance with the prevailing laws of the country. However, if unnecessary harassment continues, it will become difficult for artists to work freely, which will damage the local art and culture and lead to the spread of unhealthy cultural practices.
