A lawyer named Moniruzzaman has filed a petition in the High Court seeking to ban ISKCON.
On Wednesday (November 27), the lawyer, Moniruzzaman, made the plea before the bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debashish Ray Chowdhury, presenting media reports on the matter.
Due to the sensitive nature of the issue, the court summoned the country's highest legal officer, the Attorney General.
Upon appearing in court, Attorney General Mohammad Asaduzzaman stated that, like the people of the country, his heart is also bleeding over the matter. However, he urged the court not to take any decision on the matter at this moment, as the government has already begun taking measures. The issue has now become the government's number one agenda.
He added that anyone trying to destabilize the country from any angle will be addressed by the government, which is working to build national unity and handle the concerning situation. The government has also initiated discussions with political parties regarding the recent issue.
