The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained a truck carrying 5,700 kg of Indian apples at the Doarabazar border in Sunamganj.
This information was released in a press statement today, Friday. The estimated market value of the seized apples is reported to be 6.35 million BDT.
According to the BGB's press release, a patrol team from the Banglabazar BOP (48 BGB) conducted an operation in the Kironpara area, bordering Doarabazar upazila in Sunamganj, resulting in the seizure of 5,700 kg of Indian apples and one truck.
Lieutenant Colonel Md. Hafizur Rahman, the commander of the Sylhet Battalion, stated that the BGB's operational activities and intelligence efforts to maintain border security and prevent smuggling are ongoing. In this context, the significant haul of apples was seized during operations in the border area.
The detained items are in the process of being deposited to the local customs office.
