In Tangail's Kalihati, a head-on collision between a truck and a covered van resulted in the death of the truck driver and his assistant, while the driver of the covered van was seriously injured.

The accident occurred around 5:30 am on Friday in the Salla area of the upazila, leading to a traffic jam that extended for about 15 kilometers on both sides of the highway.

The deceased truck driver has been identified as Anwarul Islam, son of Azhar Ali from Maheshpur, Thakurgaon. The identities of the other casualties are yet to be confirmed.

Shahadat Hossain, SI of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station, stated, "The truck was heading towards northern Bangladesh from Dhaka. When it reached the spot, a covered van coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with the truck. As a result, three people from both vehicles were trapped. The police and fire service arrived and, after a half-hour effort, managed to rescue them."

He further mentioned that the driver and assistant of the truck died on the spot. The bodies have been sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue and will be handed over to their families after completing legal procedures.ে।’
