In response to the question whether Awami League can participate in the election, the chief adviser of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus said, "We did not want to make a decision about political parties, and BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) said, all political parties have to contest the elections. So they have already made their decision and we cannot deny the opinion of a large party in the country."

In an interview given to the Indian media The Hindu. Yunus says these things. In response to a question whether Awami League has any objection to contest, he said, "I am not a politician who chooses one party or another party. I am fulfilling the wishes of politicians. I never see myself as a politician."

Referring to the election of Donald Trump in the United States and his very strong statement criticizing Bangladesh, Dr. Yunus said, "I don't think Trump made any statement about Bangladesh."
