The Economic Advisor, Salehuddin Ahmed, has stated that the state of the country's economy is dire. He mentioned that the economy is burdened by uncontrolled mismanagement and corruption. He made these remarks during a press conference organized at the Ministry of Finance in the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The Economic Advisor said that measures have been taken to reduce budget expenditures. However, the salaries and allowances of government officials will not be cut. An investigation is underway to examine which projects in the Annual Development Program (ADP) are unnecessary or politically motivated.
Salehuddin further mentioned that some banks are recovering, with Islamic Bank being the largest. This is a positive development. However, some banks will continue to struggle. He assured that no banks will be closed.
