The forest department has arrested 20 deer poachers from the grazing area of Dhansiddhi in Sundarbans. On Friday night, the poachers tried to enter the Sundarbans in a trawler without a pass. Chandpai Range Operations Officer of the Forest Department. Al Amin said, "On Friday night, along with the accompanying force, they saw an engine-driven trawler while patrolling the Pashur river. When the trawler passed the Nandbala patrol post office and went downstream, we signaled them with lights to stop."
The poachers were arrested from Majhnadi near Char of Dhansiddhi and various equipment including deer hunting traps were seized from them. The arrested are residents of different areas of Dhaka, Narayanganj and Bagerhat districts. A case was filed against them for illegal hunting of deer in the government reserved forest and they were sent to jail through the Bagerhat court.
