The Awami League has announced a gathering at the Zero Point in the capital on November 10 to restore democracy and protest against misgovernance. This announcement was made in a post on the party’s official Facebook page on Saturday, November 9.
The Facebook post stated, “Come to Zero Point, Nur Hossain Square, Gulistan, Dhaka, on November 10. Our protest is against the infringement on people's rights, the rise of fundamentalist forces, and the conspiracy to disrupt the lives of ordinary citizens. Join with Awami League leaders and activists to raise your voice against misgovernance.”
It’s worth noting that November 10 marks 'Shaheed Nur Hossain Day,’ commemorating the day in 1987 when Nur Hossain lost his life while participating in a democratic movement against the then authoritarian regime. This year, after being ousted from power, the Awami League has announced its first on-the-ground event for the occasion.
