The interim government’s Chief Advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has announced that taxes can now be paid from home without any hassle. He stated that the taxes paid by the people are the main driving force of the country’s economy, and to simplify the tax payment process, a system has been established that allows tax returns to be submitted from home.
He shared these details on Monday morning through a video message issued by the Chief Advisor’s press wing. The video also stated that it has been made mandatory for all officials and employees, scheduled banks, mobile operators, and several multinational companies in key cities like Dhaka, Narayanganj, and Gazipur to file taxes online. Other taxpayers across the country are also encouraged to file their taxes online.
Dr. Yunus further mentioned that state awards will be given to individuals or organizations based on the volume of taxes submitted online, and a competitive environment will be created at the district level among taxpayers. The Chief Advisor also called upon young men and women to assist taxpayers in filing their taxes online.
