Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee of Bangladesh. Kamal Hossain said that it may be necessary to revise the constitution in the current context, but he is not in favor of changing the constitution at the will of any individual. He expressed this opinion in the speech of the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized in the auditorium of the Supreme Court Bar Association on the occasion of '4th November 1972 Constitution Day'. The meeting was organized by the Bangladesh Democratic Lawyers Association on Monday afternoon.
Dr. Kamal Hussain said, “No person will change it (Constitution) with a stroke of the pen. If a person thinks, even if the President thinks it is wrong, he should not change it with the stroke of a pen. People's opinions should be kept and taken."
He also said that the people should be aware of whether the constitution is being interpreted correctly or not. He thinks that the constitution is a document, which is interpreted by people and the courts can also make mistakes in this interpretation. Vigilance of the people is important to preserve constitutional rule.
