11 members of BNP, including Municipal Chhatra Dal convener Shakeel Ahmad, were injured in an attack by Jubo League workers in Gurdaspur, Natore. As the condition of 4 of the injured is critical, they have been sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. The incident took place in Chanchkod Madhyampara area around 8:30 pm on Friday.
According to police and local sources, while in power, Jubo League leader Alamgir Hossain took 30 sacks of rice from BNP-backed rice trader Rizvi Ahmad Rakib's business. After the collapse of the Awami League government, Rizvi beat Jubo League leader Alamgir Rakib and Ward No. 7 BNP president Emdad Hossain on Wednesday when he demanded payment. When Rakib complained to the police station, Alamgir and his accomplices got angry and ambushed BNP workers along with Chhatra Dal leader Shakeel on Friday.
At least 11 people supported by BNP were injured in the attack. After the incident, the leaders and activists of BNP and other organizations protested on the streets. Additional police have been deployed to control the situation. Sarwar Hossain, OC of Gurdaspur police station said, "In this incident, the case is being prepared and the police are active in arresting the accused."
