Journalist Mushfiqul Fazlul Ansari is being appointed as an ambassador with the rank of Senior Secretary. On Monday (October 21), a notification was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration assigning his position to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will appoint him as an ambassador to the Bangladesh mission abroad. The notification states that he has been given this contractual appointment for three years, on the condition of severing any ties with other professions, businesses, or government, semi-government, or private organizations. His appointment will be effective from the date of joining.
Mushfiqul Fazlul Ansari is currently the editor of the online news portal JustNewsBD.com in New York, USA. Additionally, he serves as a permanent correspondent for the United Nations and the White House, and as the executive editor of South Asia Perspectives.
He has raised various questions about Bangladesh during press briefings at the United Nations and the U.S. State Department. Issues such as human rights violations, election fraud, and authoritarian governance have frequently been brought up by him during press conferences at the United Nations and the White House. Due to his courageous journalism, he was forced to leave the country in 2015 after falling out of favor with the Awami League government. Previously, Mushfiqul Fazlul Ansari served as an assistant press secretary during Khaleda Zia's second term.
