A Palestinian woman, sitting beside her deceased relatives, lamented, "Who else should I cry for...? My son...? My daughter...? My grandson...? My siblings...? They have all gone; I have no one left." A video broadcasted by Al Jazeera shows bodies being wrapped in blankets and removed from the ruins of a collapsed building.
This incident occurred in Gaza, where Palestinians have been victims of Israeli brutality. In the dead of night, Israeli forces bombed a multi-story building that was sheltering displaced Palestinians from northern Gaza. The airstrike claimed the lives of at least 109 individuals, including 25 sleeping children. Many others were injured, and the death toll is expected to rise. Late Monday night, Israeli attackers descended upon the five-story building in Beit Lahiya, in southern Gaza, where horrific violence has persisted for 24 days. According to reports from the Gaza government media office, over 150 people have been injured, and nearly 50 are still missing.
The building was home to the Abu Naser family, who had fled their homes due to Israeli soldiers. When the bombing began in the early hours, between 300 and 400 people were sleeping inside. Local media reports indicate that the Israeli military has caused such devastation to health services that hospitals now lack sufficient medical supplies. As a result, many injured individuals die even after being admitted to hospitals. Dr. Husam Abu Safiya, director of the Kamal Adwan Hospital, stated to Al Jazeera, "We cannot even treat the injured from the Beit Lahiya massacre due to a lack of essential medical supplies. The condition of most of the injured is so dire that they could die from the lack of medical care."
Middle East Eye reported that the Kamal Adwan Hospital was the only operational hospital in northern Gaza before the Israeli military conducted its operations last week. On that day, the Jewish attackers evacuated all staff except for Director Abu Safiya and one pediatrician. They had already disrupted the operations of other hospitals by repeatedly bombing them and cutting off fuel, food, and medicine supplies.
Abu Safiya said those who came seeking help for the injured were also devastated by Israeli bombs. The world should not just observe the genocide in Gaza; it must react.
Since October 5, Israeli forces have unleashed a new level of brutality in Gaza. Human rights organizations have termed this violence as ethnic cleansing against Palestinians. This brutality is being carried out according to a controversial proposal from the Israeli government known as the "Generals' Plan." The main objective of this plan is to clear northern Gaza and establish a military zone there. Giora Eiland, a retired general leading the proposal, stated that those who leave the area would receive food and water, while those who do not comply would be identified and killed as Hamas operatives. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, reports that over 400,000 people are trapped in Gaza City and northern Gaza, with the Israeli military imposing strict blockades and media blackouts in these areas. The Jewish attackers are choosing hunger and malnutrition as methods of ethnic cleansing.
Since the Gaza war began 13 months ago, Israel has killed more than 43,000 Palestinians. Their brutality has injured hundreds of thousands, and over 10,000 people are missing, likely buried under the rubble. Among the dead, at least 17,000 children and 12,000 women have been reported, according to Gaza's government media office.
