The chief adviser of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus said in an interview given to Time magazine that those of Awami League who are responsible for killing and torture will be brought to justice. He said, "Those who are not criminals are free to participate in elections like others. We will fight against them on political basis."
In the interview, he complained of the extrajudicial disappearance of three and a half thousand people during the regime of the former government. He said that reforms are underway in six areas in the country - electoral system, police administration, judiciary, anti-corruption commission, public administration and national constitution.
In this context, BNP Information and Technology Secretary AKM Wahiduzzaman said, "The interim government has formed six reform commissions without consulting any political party. This is a sign of a bad and autocratic government."
