The incident dates back to 2019. On October 7 of that year, Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of the Electrical Engineering Department and a resident of Sher-e-Bangla Hall at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was beaten to death by activists of the Bangladesh Chhatra League. This incident ignited a wave of protests across the student community, leading to the filing of a case and the commencement of legal proceedings. The tragic night at BUET still brings tears to many.
A short film titled *Room Number 2011* has been created, based on the story of Abrar Fahad. The film was produced under the initiative of Sheikh Jisan Ahmed, a student at Jahangirnagar University. The film features nearly a hundred students in various roles. While there had been rumors about its release earlier, it was uncertain until now. Finally, it is set to release on December 3, with its premiere at Jahangirnagar University. Additionally, the film will have its premiere in the United States on November 30.
*Room Number 2011* is Jisan’s first fiction film as a director. Before this, he gained attention by recreating scenes from popular movies like *Monpura* and *3 Idiots*.
In a recent conversation with *Kaler Kantho*, director Jisan Ahmed shared that the film is inspired by Abrar's story, though it is not a direct biopic. The film will have a duration of 20-25 minutes. Jisan mentioned that before starting the project, they had conversations with Abrar's family, friends, and loved ones to ensure accuracy.
