The TV series was later released as an OTT series. It was shot back in November 2021, and on top of that, it's a full 20-episode long series. For these three reasons, I didn't have high expectations for 'Chakra.' Although, I’ve always been curious about the 'Adam' family.
Reluctantly, I sat down to watch it the day before yesterday. We ended up watching seven episodes straight, forgetting to eat and sleep. I'm getting older, and horror content doesn't scare me anymore, not even Hollywood’s work. However, 'Chakra' gave me a chilling sensation. I even had nightmares that night. Woke up early in the morning to the sight of a dead body of a pious man in my apartment. And last night, while watching the series, I was feeling something different. It’s hard to explain that feeling in words.
I felt proud that such a bold, beautifully scripted work was done in our country. Vicky Zahed has achieved great success with his first serialized production. It takes courage to choose such a story and present it so artistically. Mitu kept saying: "Is Vicky Zahed even normal? How does he think so deeply?" The intro title card, music, reference images, and footage gave the series a different dimension. After finishing the 20 episodes, I thought, "When will I get to watch season 2?" That’s where 'Chakra's' success lies.
Throughout the 20-episode journey (shot at various times since 2021), Tasnia Farin and Tousif Mahbub maintained their expressions consistently. They acted in a way that matched each other’s performance perfectly. In one word, it was outstanding. The characters of Lubna and Humayun will stand out as some of their best work.
The supporting characters in this series also gave life to the story. Specifically, Shahed Ali was amazing. After a long time, he got a chance to fully embrace a role. As usual, AK Azad Setu was brilliant. He can fit into any character, in any kind of story. Reshma Ahmed, as the mother, was very believable and natural. The emotions of Ruhan left an emptiness in my chest.
The cinematography, lighting, art direction, location, and costumes took us to a different world altogether.
