In a case filed at the Cantonment Police Station accusing TikTok star Abdullah Al Mamun, also known as Prince Mamun, of assault and attempted murder of Laila Akhtar Farhad, the court has postponed the indictment hearing to February 3. On Tuesday, Dhaka’s Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mahbubul Haque set the new date.
On this day, the accused Mamun appeared in court and his lawyer requested additional time. On the other hand, the plaintiff's lawyer requested a hearing for the indictment. The court granted the time request and set a new date.
Laila Akhtar Farhad filed the case on December 12, 2023. The complaint states that Laila met Prince Mamun on Facebook, and over time, a romantic relationship developed between them. With the consent of both families, their marriage was finalized, and Mamun started living at Laila's Baridhara DOHS residence.
Afterward, Mamun started taking money from Laila under various pretexts. He would often come home late at night after using drugs and speak vulgar language. At times, he would physically assault Laila and make unreasonable demands. On December 11, 2023, after attending a birthday party in Uttara, Mamun, along with two others, suggested going to Mirpur to drink alcohol. Laila refused and stopped him, which angered Mamun. He verbally abused her and, when she asked him to stop, he physically assaulted her and attempted to kill her.
